With “DANCE. DYE. BLESS.” as its guiding concept, SEMBU brings together the spirit of Kabuki, the refined movement and aesthetic sensibility of Japanese dance, and the energy and physicality of street dance.
Where tradition and the present intersect, a new form of dance is born: SEMBU.
SEMBU carries tradition forward, breathes new life into it in the present, and connects it to the future.
What SEMBU seeks to create goes beyond moving the hearts of its audience.

KOTOHOGU
Kotohogu is an ancient Japanese concept of celebrating what is good through words, while honoring a person’s very existence and the life they live.
In Japan, there has long been a belief in kotodama: the idea that words carry a spirit and power of their own.
SEMBU seeks to express that same act of blessing through dance.
Not through words, but through the body.
Through dance as a language, SEMBU honors and blesses the people who gather within that space.
Not only joy and happiness, but also sorrow and struggle, light and darkness.
By embracing all of these, the dance ultimately moves toward blessing.
