SHIGEKEY began his professional career as a dancer in his teens. In 2000, he won first place at the Los Angeles edition of the Co. Dance Competition in the United States.

He went on to perform in stage productions and a wide range of events, expanding his career as a backup dancer for international artists including 2PM, IU, and Park Hyun-bin. Through experiences that crossed genres and borders, he continued to broaden and refine his artistic expression.

In his twenties, he also pursued a career as an actor, appearing in television dramas and stage productions, including the NHK historical drama Yae no Sakura.

His work further expanded into 2.5-dimensional theatre, where he also worked as a choreographer, developing a multidisciplinary career across dance, acting, and stage creation.

In his thirties, a series of encounters led him into the world of Kabuki as a member of the Koraiya lineage.

In August 2018, he made his Kabuki-za debut as a traveler in Tokaidochu Hizakurige.

Through his years in Kabuki, he immersed himself in the beauty, discipline, and spirit of Japanese traditional performing arts, deepening the foundation of his own identity as a performing artist.

In his forties, he chose to leave the Kabuki stage in order to create a new form of performance that brings together everything he had experienced throughout his career.

With the aim of creating a one-of-a-kind form of dance that transforms the hearts of those who witness it, he founded SEMBU Inc.
